![]() ![]() Symbolic Reasoning evaluates your ability to conduct mental math calculations and work with technical information to resolve practical problems. Spatial Reasoning examines your ability to form three-dimensional mental pictures, understand different spatial relationships between objects, and project objects forward in time and space. Short Term Memory and Capacity assesses your ability to remember words, numbers, or pictorial information temporarily without interference from other tasks, or without being disrupted by new incoming information. This test can be thought of as the ability to play “Where’s Waldo”. Perceptual Processing measures the ability to scan visual and audio environments and pick out relevant information without being distracted. Strategic Task Management evaluates the ability to strategically control several ongoing tasks including planning ahead, organizing and prioritizing, all under a degree of time pressure. You will be tested in the following areas: ![]() Before you arrive at Trenton, it’s important to understand the challenging nature of the testing so that you are fully prepared and postured for success. The experience is designed not only to assess your abilities within specific mental domains, but also to observe your capacity to concentrate for long periods and perform under stress. The results will be used to determine which employment opportunities are the best match for your abilities. This consists of a series of computer-based tests to evaluate specific aptitudes for these three occupations. If you have selected an occupation in Air Operations, specifically, Pilot, Air Combat Systems Officer, and / or Aerospace Controller, one of your first steps is attendance at the Canadian Forces Aircrew Selection Centre in Trenton, ON, where you’ll undergo approximately 7.5 hours of testing over a 2-day period. Maritime Patrol Pilots protect Canadian coasts. Tactical Helicopter Pilots support aid distribution and peacekeeping missions. ![]() Transport Pilots deliver humanitarian aid to people around the world. Fighter Pilots protect Canadians and defend our interests abroad. Search and Rescue Pilots are deployed anywhere in Canada to rescue people in distress and emergency situations. The working environment depends on the military role assigned to the Pilot. Pilots work in a variety of areas, ranging from northernmost parts of Canada to duties supporting the Royal Canadian Navy. Success at Aircrew Selection is a necessary step in order to continue to be processed for these three occupations. The selection centre is located in Trenton, Ontario where candidates are tested over a 2-day period with computer-based scenarios designed to validate those skills and aptitudes required by the RCAF. They work with sophisticated technology for precision tactical navigation systems, advanced communication systems, sensor systems, counter-measure systems and weapon delivery systems.Īircrew Selection Centre – the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) requires that all Pilots, Aerospace Controllers and Air Combat Systems Officers attend and successfully complete the Aircrew Selection. The primary responsibilities of a Pilot are to plan communicate, coordinate and execute tactical missions in support of civil authority or military objectives, such as humanitarian and disaster relief, and air intercept operations. Pilots fly a range of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) aircraft in a variety of roles: Search and Rescue, Fighter, Transport, Tactical Helicopter, or Maritime Patrol.
